Re born...

So the sun is shinning and I'm feeling good, my relationship is coming to an end and I spent yesterday down in the dumps. But today is a new day I'm volunteering for New York Cares and that feels good orientation is next Tuesday, Ive always wanted to do something for others SO EXCITED. Sometimes you just have to except things for what it is and what it isn't. I feel sought of re-born I can finally focus all my energy on positive things and that's exactly what I am going to do. Get my life on track and start living, the pain is still there but I'm not going to let it take over me. I don't want to keep being one of those stupid women anymore and you can't change people, you can only change yourself. 2012 is going to be a good year, I have started a water fast I am on day two and will keep going for another two days, then I plan on doing a juice cleanse which I did for 21 days not so long ago and it was awesome! so I'm looking forward to that. Its a big world out there and I think sometimes we get so caught up in our own little worlds that we sometimes forget. This is going to be a short and sweet post just had some positive energy I wanted to put out there, next week I'm going to do a video post or should I say vlog so stay tuned and stay positive...

Time to talk HAIR for real...

Anyone that really knows me knows I'm all about hair, or should I say extensions. If I calculated all the money I spent on extensions it would be a deposit on a home, but it has became an addiction. Since I was eight teen I have been getting extensions and tried many different ways of putting them in and many different brands of hair. At the moment I have 1B 22inch Outre Velvet Virgin Remy hair 2 packs which weights about 8 ounces at $145 per pack sewed into my head, you need to packs to do a full head. I got the hair from a beauty supply store in Harlem on 125th st. I don't have the exact packs I used to show you but this is what they look like...

I find the sewing method to be the best and cheaper then others. Micro links would be my second favorite, Keratin bonding or glue I don't like because if you sweat the hair will come out and it ruins your natural hair. If  you can get a friend willing to watch tutorials on micro beading and keratin bonding on YouTube then you can have them do it, and buy all the supplies online. Much more cost effective then over priced salons, and to be honest anyone can put in extensions it's very easy! The two brands of hair that I trust is Outre Velvet and Bobbi Boss, they shed the least and don't tangle, also you can re use the hair depending on how well you take care of it. Some of the tricks Ive learnt is to wash only once a week and NEVER rub the hair when washing, braid your hair before going to bed and try to NOT use to much heat on the hair as much as you can. Also it's a good idea to use oil after styling like organic argan oil or coconut oil. Also when brushing hold the hair at the top of the weft/root and start from the bottom working your way to the top (this helps stop shedding).
This pic is so silly but it's the only one I have taken recently with my hair down for you guys to see.
I have posted the links below to sites that are trusted if you want to buy your own hair or other supplies. And if you have any hair questions feel free to leave comments down below...

My life so far as a New Yorker...

I have been living in New York for almost two years now, and I must say it has been interesting. Work has sought of taken over my life for the most part, but I have been able to explore the city allot in between bike riding all over Manhattan and some parts of Brooklyn, which might I add is a great way to see things and good exercise. I have wined and dinned at some of New York top restaurants and cafes, which I will later do reviews on so stay tuned. And I have also attended my fare share of Brooklyn underground raves, which I love way move then your average night club. New York is defiantly a melting pot of different culture's yet somehow everyone co-exists very nicely with each other. I have settled in well for the most part and I'm in a much better place then when I first arrived. At times I get frustrated with people being in your face, that is why I love our apartment, I find your apartment  becomes your little haven a hideout from the 24/7 craziness that come sometimes take over. One thing I must say if you do visit here please don't catch cabs ride the subway see the real New York, and it doesn't get any realer then a lady screaming I have AIDS with her daughter in her arms asking for money, or a smacked out heroin junkie on the nod fully bent over in a surfers pose with all her belongings falling out of her bag onto the floor, as people jam together on the packed train trying to avoid her. There is really so much you can experience on the subway those were just two incidences that are burned in my memory. I have decided to be a little visual with this post so enjoy...

I happened to be downtown by one police plaza and was able to catch these talented street performers show.

This was pic was taken at the stairs in Times Square, where Jay Z and Alicia Keys shot there video "State of Mind"

Bike riding day down the west side highway in the back is the Intrepid.

40 ounce bounce under the George Washington bridge, didn't really get to party cos the cops came to stop the fun!!!

The Shank in Williamsburg BK, so much fun my favorite rave of all time.

Fashions Night Out at Patricia Field, It was so packed you couldn't even move :(

Brooklyn Zoo rave I think it was the second BK zoo but it was fun. Now they have gotten over rated and to main stream so sad.

In dumbo with the hubby such a pretty view of the Brooklyn bridge!

Nam Wah Tea Parlour in china town my FAVORITE DIM SUM!!!

Down by Wall st and saw this little beauty!

Why are women so stupid ???

Now don't get offended women by the title, I am in the same category. I spoke to my sister in Australia last night and boy how I feel for her! let me add that she is the nicest, caring loving women I know. I am going to tell her story for you I won't be mentioning any names (I don't want to blow up people's spots) so my sister will be called M her ex-partner and baby's father will be X and my nephew her son will be A.

Many years ago M met X he isn't from Australia, so when X met M he was married with two children (for papers). Anyway X lied and said that they weren't his kids and he wasn't married, but later on X  told M the truth. M sill kept seeing him STUPID MISTAKE NUMBER ONE!!! so they went out and were living together off and on because X's wife lived in another state, and only wanted money off him, Money that M gave to him STUPID MISTAKE NUMBER TWO!!! so years went on and X finally got his permanent residency and divorced his wife. Meanwhile he was cheating on M and doing shady illegal activities to get money the whole time. So M decided to fall pregnant to X STUPID MISTAKE NUMBER THREE!!! but I love A and he is the only good thing to come out of this story. So after nine months A was born. Just months after X got locked up for many years around 6 or 7, X was cheating with a girl before he was locked up and A was born lets call her L. While X was locked up M was able to get her life on track with her son A, she started university and got her divers license it seemed with X locked up she could finally get on. So stupid M and stupid L kept visiting X in jail over the years, X feeding both these women Lie's which they ate up with a spoon. M stayed faithful to X in hope's that they will play happy families when X got out BOY WAS SHE WRONG!!! because M was tired of giving X money and had a son HIS SON to look after X kept seeing L who I guess funded his lawyers and put money in his jail account so the piece of shit could be comfy. Anyway after X got out of jail they put him in a detention camp for immigrant's he only has his permanent residency so they were trying to deport him, But he stayed on the count he has 3 kids which he doesn't take care of. About three or so weeks ago X got out for good and totally dissed M said he wants nothing to do with her just wants to see his son, which is fine a little hurtful for M because she thought they would have a life together, and after waiting 6 to 7 years you can expect that. X is now with L but I know it's only for $$$ seeing as he has nothing and nowhere to stay. A is heart broken because X said that when he gets out that M, A and X would be a family, True to X's form he thinks of only himself. So after speaking to M on the phone last night and saying to her what hurt me the most in the case of my husband cheating was,  knowing that what you thought was special  like times going out to movies, dinner, bike rides late night talks really means NOTHING!!! because it had lost that special feeling knowing he was doing all those things with someone else. And that's what hurts the most right girls? knowing that it is all a lie! and the man you call your husband or boyfriend you don't even really know!!! But I think at the end of the day nobody can hurt you unless you allow them to. So it's time to smarten up girls and make better choices on who you date and marry.

Please feel free to comment and give your own opinions on this situation or even yours, I will be happy to answer any questions :)

Proucts of the week

So I'm going to be doing a products of the week post, I was thinking it should be monthly but I have an obsession with products. Really to be honest I just like to spend money on random shit when I am out and about or just bored, it has become a problem!!! but at least I can make my self feel better by knowing my elusive spending might help others make informed choices on there purchases.

1# Marc Jacobs Daisy Eu De par fum $75 at Sephora. LOVE LOVE LOVE this fragrance so young yet sophisticated great for spring. I usually use Micheal Kors but needed a change and this I feel is similar to Micheal Kors and it last which I like.

2# Soap and Glory the righteous butter $18 at Sephora. Soap and Glory I just stumbled upon in a recent visit to Sephora I first fell in love with the smell which was the main reason I bought this. But then I used it after my morning shower and WOW it is so moisturizing without being sticky and the smell last all day a definite must.

3# Sally Hansen Healthy Cuticles Now $9 at Duane Reade. I have finally grown my nails and now my guilty pleasure is watching Shameless (the British version of course) and doing my own manicures. My cuticles have been giving me such grief so dry and UGLY!!! so I decided I need to stop cutting them and instead keep them moisturized which is what this little orange baby does.

Note to all neon nails are HOT!!!

4# Aussie 3 minute miracle Deeep Conditioner $4 at Duane Reade. I have extensions all the time so I have to take good care of them and I have been looking for a good conditioner that detangles and adds moisture. My co- worker told me about this black girl hair forum which is awesome I will try to post the link and they review everything there. I saw glowing reviews for Aussie 3 min miracle deeep conditioner so I gave it a whirl and I'm not looking back.

#5 St Tropez Body lotion self tanner $36. Okay so Iam a lover of a healthy glow, and I have tried so many tanning products over the years and NOTHING has compared to the tan I get from St Tropez products. The color is a nice natural olive no ompa lompas here another must for the tanning obsessed.

#5 Josie Maran Organic Argan Oil $46 or so at Sephora. I heard about this from a co-worker who raved about the multi purposes of this oil. I mostly use it for my hair but it also works as a moisturizer and you can also use it on your cuticles as well. I was a little sceptical about putting oil on my hair Because I HATE and I mean HATE oily looking hair, but this product doesn't do that it just hydrates and gives a nice healthy shine to your locks. I might try coconut oil next time once I'm just done with this, but I do give Josie Maran 2 thumbs up. (please note it's a small bottle so it's alittle pricey)

Hope you found this post informative and stay tuned for more ...
